Platform Tennis balls on court

Platform / Paddle Tennis

A doubles game, typically played on elevated (sometimes heated) outdoor courts, that allows you to play the ball off tension wired backwalls. Paddle tennis is like the fun, easier to play cousin of tennis. Paddles are round in shape with holes cut into their center. The balls are made of sponge rubber and have a different bounce and texture than a tennis ball.

Pickleball has unique design with holes throughout surface

Pickleball

A singles and doubles game that is played on a smaller court (4 feet shorter than paddle tennis) that doesn’t typically require a backwall (some courts have fencing, not wire). Pickleball is the more athletic cousin to ping-pong and badminton. The paddles are more square and smooth. You play with a “wiffleball-like” ball, unlike the rubber-like balls of paddle or tennis.

Padel Balls look like tennis balls, but less pressure

Padel

Mostly a doubles game that differs from Paddle Tennis in that the court is in-ground and the walls are typically made of glass and mesh. Padel could be compared as a combo of tennis and squash and also the International version of Paddle Tennis. The paddles are more triangular in design, while incorporating tiny holes cut into the face. The ball looks like a tennis ball, but has less pressure.
